Air emissions - volatile organic compounds (VOC)
AGL Loy Yang total VOC emissions decreased 5%. The decrease in emissions is aligned with the decrease in coal combustion.
Bayswater Power Station total VOC emissions increased in FY26. The increase in VOC at Bayswater Power Station is due to one significantly higher measurement taken in FY26. VOCs are tested 8 times a year with an average taken from these samples.
In FY26, AGL Torrens total VOC emissions increased despite a reduction in fuel use, primarily due to a revision of the emission factors applied to calculate emissions.
FY26 data includes emissions associated with the combustion of black coal and diesel at the Bayswater Power Station, black and brown coal as well as natural gas at AGL Loy Yang, and natural gas and fuel oil at AGL Torrens. It also includes estimates of fugitive emissions at these sites. The remaining data will be made available in November 2026. |
For the purposes of this data set, AGL Torrens comprises the Torrens Island Power Station and the Barker Inlet Power Station. |

AGL Torrens emissions are calculated from the application of emission factors to the quantity of fuel combusted at Torrens Island Power Station and Barker Inlet Power Station. In FY26, these emission factors for Barker Inlet Power Station were updated due to more accurate emissions and pollutant reduction factors in the NPI guidance manual. |
AGL Loy Yang natural gas use for June 2026 was estimated. This will be updated in November 2026. |
