Legislative non-compliances resulting in adverse court findings	1	SafeWork SA Proceedings - Torrens Island Pty Limited Between 2022 and 2023, sections of redundant electrical cables were removed from Torrens Island A Power Station as part of broader decommissioning works. Some of the cables had a lead sheath with a copper core. While risk assessments were performed in the lead-up to the relevant activities, the health risk associated with handling bulk lead was not identified. As a result, an unforeseen risk of lead exposure arose. AGL reported the event to SafeWork SA. In May 2025, SafeWork SA commenced proceedings against AGL Torrens Island Pty Limited alleging it failed to comply with the primary duty of care to workers in relation to alleged lead exposure during the cable removal work. AGL pleaded guilty to failing to comply with the duty and a conviction has been recorded. As at 30 June 2026, the court decision about penalty is yet to be handed down (maximum penalty $500,000).
