Average level of debt of customers on Staying Connected

In FY26, the number of customers seeking support through the Staying Connected program increased by 19%, and the average customer debt increased by 6%. This reflects the ongoing cost-of-living pressures and broader economic challenges impacting household affordability, leading more customers to seek hardship assistance to manage energy arrears. A key contributor to the growth in debt levels is that approximately 71% of customers on the program are on payment plans below their ongoing energy consumption. During FY26, AGL provided $27 million in direct financial support, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to supporting customers facing financial hardship and assisting them to reduce outstanding arrears.
